Original Love
The Timeless Source of Wholeness
“A book to be treasured, assimilated, read and re-read for its profound wisdom, compassion, and insight into our history as a species.”
More advance praise for Original Love
The origin story of my third and final book of the trilogy, Original Love: The Timeless Source of Wholeness, which launches February 13th, is the best and most unusual origin story of all. Sometime around seven years ago, while I was still in the early stages of writing Original Politics, my wife Tomoko came down to breakfast one morning and made a pronouncement: “You are going to write a book called Original Love.” Tomoko had never predicted my future before then or since, so I believe it was Spirit speaking through her so that I would listen. Then a year later another woman, Jean Ellis-Sankari, was asking me if I would want to teach at UNM Taos, and interrupted herself in the middle of a sentence to say: “I just got a download. You are going to write a book called Original Love, and it is going to be the third in a three part series with the word ‘Original’ in the title.” That was the first time I realized I was writing a trilogy. The funny thing about this story is I had changed the title of Original Politics to Sacred Politics by that time. Sacred Politics was actually the working title when SelectBooks gave me a contract, and for a year after that. But now I knew I needed to change the title back to Original Politics and connect the first two books. As soon as I did that, everything flowed together perfectly, and I received my own download about how to write the book on love. I woke up one morning with a awareness that “original love” is something we can experience and remember but cannot discover because love has always been here. Love is a foundational force of the cosmos. I knew then that the book would be primarily a remembrance of love for Mother Earth, not a book centered around romantic love.
This is the way the mysterious entity called Original Love came into existence. It was very much through supernatural means beyond my control. I did not decide to write the book other than to accept the assignment proposed to me by Spirit. The ancestors knew I was going to write the book; I had no clue. And yet Original Love is perhaps my finest work to date—and maybe that is why. I allowed what was needed to come forward to write it, and nothing more. I believe this book came through for a reason, with divine timing. With so much strife and turmoil during these times, we need to receive the message of love as a timeless source of wholeness. We need to be reminded that love is a vibration we can access at any time, that love lives inside of us.
Advance Praise For Original Love
“A beautifully crafted, beautifully written Symposium on the nature and ubiquity of Love, asking us to recover our ancient relationship with nature and to reconnect with spirit before we have gone so far in our alienation from both that we may destroy ourselves. A book to be treasured, assimilated, read and re-read for its profound wisdom, compassion, and insight into our history as a species. But also, a call to remember what we have forgotten or discarded as irrelevant to our technologically-addicted culture. “We need to remember that, as humans, we are an integral part of creation. We are made of the same light, air, water, and earth as all creatures—plant, animal, or mineral.”
He brings fascinating information about specific women’s voices allied with Indigenous voices in the US in the nineteenth century, voices that were calling urgently even then for just such a transformation of our understanding of life. This, he says, is the task of our times—to recover the wisdom of the ages and repurpose it for the creation of a new kind of civilization. Everything we have ever learned about love, wisdom, and compassion needs to be remembered and revitalized.
In the chaos of our times, he writes: “What we are experiencing is tantamount to a shamanic dismemberment. We need to dismember in order to remember; we need to put ourselves back together again in ways that are healthy and whole. We are compelled to reconstruct the whole out of what has been torn apart; we are being called to dig deeper into our psyche. When we go deep, we find Indigenous and feminine wisdom—and original love— buried in the depths of our unconscious. …”

“Glenn Aparicio Parry has written perhaps the seminal book on the subject of Love, which comes at the right moment hoping it will do the most good. From personal insight and experience and drawing from such teachers and spiritual leaders as Joseph Campbell and Meher Baba, as well as Native American elders and the Tao Te Ching, he has dived deep into the subject of Love, past, present and future, related to interconnectedness and raised consciousness. At this critical time in human and planetary history, he says, nothing may be more important than Love and our understanding of what this is and means on not only a human scale, but on a universal scale as well. In this sense, Original Love is a message and revelation that is a beacon of light for us all.”
—THOMAS RAIN CROWE, author of: New Natives: Becoming Indigenous in a Time of Crisis and Transition and Zoro’s Field: My Life in the Appalachian Woods.
“Glenn Aparicio Parry has distilled a lifetime of inquiry into humanity’s deepest understandings of love, consciousness, and life itself. This book is a masterpiece of wisdom. One cannot read it without experiencing many openings of the heart.
—JEFFREY MISHLOVE, PhD Host, New Thinking Allowed Youtube Channel, author of The Roots of Consciousness and The PK Man: A True Story of Mind over Matter
Parry calls our attention to the essential reality of Love in this soulful and touching weaving of transformative and enduring lived ways of being in balance and good relationship. The book is a marvelous journey which nourishes deeply the lost parts of our Souls.
—OHKI S. FOREST, author of Dreaming the Council Ways: True Native Teachings from the Red Lodge.
Original Love leaves in no doubt that the greatest of treasures, Love itself, has been safeguarded through the ages by indigenous wisdom keepers. Glenn Aparicio Parry feasts us on the ways of wholeness and provides us with the antidote to the fragmentation and violent shattering of the entire human enterprise currently facing humanity. We may very well be about to discover that the seed of our collective destiny is not the defect of original sin but the indestructible designs of wisdom itself in an inheritance of love.
—JAMES O’DEA, former president of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, author of Cultivating Peace and The Conscious Activist
Reading Original Love is like visiting an old, wise friend. It gives us comfort and helps us reminisce on times when our soul danced in harmony with all things. Through a combination of intellectual rigour, storytelling and spiritual connection, Glenn Aparicio Parry weaves a narrative that is profound, hopeful and compelling. I love this book!’
—PAUL CALLAGHAN, PhD, aboriginal elder, Worimi people, New South Wales, Australia,
author of The Dreaming Path: Indigenous Thinking to Change Your Life (with Uncle Paul Gordon) and Irridescence: Finding Your Colors and Living Your Story
The timing of each book in the trilogy was impeccable. Original Love is the third wave coming toward us—the Cosmic Consciousness that connects us all, past, present, and future. Whether we know it physically or not, we feel it, see it in the collective Dreamtime, hear it echoing as it swirls in our cochlear fluid, rising and falling with the connecting vibration of the breath and heartbeat of the Mother…The only way to understand the entirety of Original Love is to swallow it and Become the Love!
—SUSAN KAIULANI STANTON, Haudenosaunee elder, founder of Grandmothers Circle the Earth Foundation.
Original Love is a reality, a truth that already existed before the beginning of the universe… Love sustains and holds creation together. Humans should participate in this truth and be one with the universe.
—FRANK MORGAN, Diné (Navajo) elder, linguist, and scholar, author of Navajo Terminology for Food and Nutrients: Kindness, Care, and Blessings through our Food.
Glenn Aparicio Parry’s book beautifully describes an awakening that is occurring, albeit it with great resistance, about feeling the original timeless and continuing force of loving energy in the mystery of creation that we once embraced to guide our lives.
—WAHINKKPE TOPA (FOUR ARROWS), PhD, author of The Red Road and co-author of Restoring our Kinship Worldview.
Glenn’s “Original Love” offers the readers and listeners an experience of the embodied Divine Masculine heart revering and supporting the Divine Feminine and its Indigenous context. Glenn’s writing reveals truth, integrity, heart and vision…His material is eloquently intuitive yet grounded in both deep knowledge and wisdom.
—VICTORIA HANCHIN, LCSW, author of The Seer and the Sayer: Revelations of the New Earth
Glenn Aparicio Parry has essentially written the biography of love itself—from its cosmic birth certificate to its current renaissance. This isn’t your typical “how to find your soulmate” manual. No, this is more like “how the entire universe is your soulmate, and here’s the proof with footnotes….”
Parry’s writing is genuinely luminous. When he describes his experience at the Rio Grande Gorge, I found myself booking a mental vacation there immediately. The guy can make you feel the presence of love in everything from moth visitations to underground rivers having conversations with clouds. (Yes, that’s actually in there, and yes, it somehow makes perfect sense.)…
Parry’s central insight—that original love is both the oldest thing there is and what’s emerging right now—feels both ancient and urgently contemporary. When he writes about love as the “foundational vibration of the cosmos,” he’s not being poetic. He means it literally, and makes you believe it too. Original Love is the kind of book that changes how you see everything….If you’re ready to have your worldview lovingly reorganized… this book is for you.

What hidden secrets does love contain? Why does love give our lives the greatest meaning, yet sometimes seem so elusive? In Original Love, Glenn Aparicio Parry delves into these profound mysteries and invites us to prepare the way for the future of love, by transcending limitations of what we think we know and who we think we are. Some of us have a deep primordial sense of how at the origin, there was only love—all was love, and all was one. While original love never left, experiencing it requires expanded awareness within ourselves. We often focus more attention on suffering and separation than timeless unobstructed connection to the Great Mystery—yet we can each have direct access to this great love. Original Love invites a revolution of perennial wisdom, including reconnection with plants, animals, minerals and humans reuniting with integral consciousness. Just as the word “revolution” suggests a return to the initial point of origin, so too can humanity now return to the timeless source of wholeness of original love. And this time, we can experience all the very best that love has to offer. And just in time, since it’s exactly what the world needs most right now!

It takes courage to explore the vast topic of love. Its urgency arises from our time of polycrisis and polarization where healing can only come from making ourselves fully present by remembering our original stories, stories that have always been present. This wonderful meditative exploration guides the reader into a new quality of consciousness with the help of mystics from all traditions. It is an urgent statement, in many ways very personal, that guides us to the places where loves emerges as part of the creative unfolding of our world. This third book, following Original Thinking and Original Politics, crowns Glenn Aparicio Parry’s wisdom of how to move beyond our current darkness into presence so that love emerges from our deepest roots. This is a beautifully written evocation of love in all its manifestations that inevitably will impact the reader—admirable and potent medicine to shift our awareness.

Of the many splendors that love is, Glenn Aparicio Parry highlights undivided presence in this eloquent reminder of who we are and who we can be. Drawing on his own wisdom and the wisdom of elders and sages across cultures and millennia, Parry guides us gently to the paradoxical source of love, the all-pervading origin, which exists within and without. Not something to win or lose, not something past or present or future but ever-present, Original Love is something that is, that “holds the elements of the cosmos together,” that we can choose to be. Go ahead, feel it.
—LISA (L.E.) MAROSKI, Nautilus Gold award-winning author of Embracing Paradox, Evolving Language.
Original Love is a clarion call delivered with fierce tenderness. Rejecting the idea that romance is love, Parry takes us on a deep dive into our true nature, overflowing with the wisdom of the ages. There are many gifts with this book, including incredible history lessons. Glenn is a master historian.
—SKY OTTER (BILL PFEIFFER), founder, Sacred Earth Network and author of Wild Earth, Wild Soul
I have been eagerly anticipating the third book in Glenn Aparicio Parry’s series, following Original Thinking and Original Politics, and Original Love does not disappoint. In this profound work, Parry weaves together a historical framework of love, guiding us through its evolution from ancient times to the present.
What impressed me most was how Parry intricately weaves themes of Original Thinking throughout. From the evolution of collective consciousness, moving through magical, mythical, and mental stages of thinking, he offers a hopeful message. We can recover integral thinking—one that is in harmony with Original Love. This approach frees us from the constraints of linear thought and the limitations of individual rational consciousness, helping us discover a love and way of thinking that embraces us all.
As someone who has read the prequel books and written an enthusiastic review of Original Thinking and Original Politics, I can confidently say that Original Love will inspire you. This book will lead you beyond the narrow confines of romantic love, helping you rediscover that each one of us is part of the timeless story of love.
—DR. DAVID BOJE, writer, social scientist, transformational storyteller, coach, director of Socio-Economic, Organizational Development (SEOD), author of Storytelling in the Global Age and Theatres of Capitalism.
Original Love is a beautifully crafted finale to his profound trilogy on origins. Parry’s previous explorations of … Original Thinking and …Original Politics convey the troubling human departure from gratitude and kinship. In Original Love Parry offers that the origin of all resides in love—not a fleeting feeling within the human mind, but rather, a perpetual resonance within cosmic wholeness. To think, to relate, to cocreate, human beings must be rooted in this wholeness. Parry weaves in wonderful insights that convey how Indigenous societies understood, and understand, this essential way of life. He also reflects on the current shift toward a more fluid understanding of relations and various manifestations of love.
—JULIE MORLEY, PhD. ornithographer, author of Future Sacred: The Connected Creativity of Nature
In an age of disconnection and despair, ‘Original Love’ offers a profound healing experience for the reader. Glenn Aparicio Parry masterfully weaves together Native American teachings and stories, with contemporary and metaphysical insights to reveal love as the fundamental force of creation itself. It also demonstrates how indigenous wisdom keepers have always known that love is not separate from creation–it IS creation! Following his groundbreaking works Original Thinking and Original Politics, this book completes a trilogy that will stand as essential reading for understanding our place and origin in the Universe.
—ANTONIO NUNEZ, PhD, coach, consultant, professor of Transpersonal Psychology, Naropa University
In Original Love, Glenn Aparicio Parry spins humanity’s history into an entrancing guide for readers today. The book welcomes us into participating in and extending the human journey by envisioning a holistic loving path forward. While describing the history of love in traditions, myths, and stories, he provides a pathway towards restoration of our common wellbeing.
—DARCIA NARVAEZ, PhD, Professor Emerita, University of Notre Dame, host of EvolvedNest.org
In Glenn Aparicio Parry’s revelatory book, Original Love, he points out that throughout most of our long developmental path we humans nourished our connection to a deep well of universal spirit and love, recognizing that we are but small pieces in the matrix of our living Earth. Today, though, because we have focused primarily on what we think we desire as humans, we have placed the life of our planet, and ourselves, in existential peril. Original Love is an exceptional and luminous expression of his conviction that by looking to the traditions of our Indigenous people we will move back into a place of communion and harmony with our living planet and the cosmos.
—TIM AMSDEN, author of Love Letter to Ramah, Living Beside New Mexico’s Trail of the Ancients, University of New Mexico Press
With Original Love, Glenn Aparicio Parry has sent us on a journey toward the Re-Enchantment of our world. He opens the ears of our hearts to the foundational vibration of love, so that we might be lured by the beauty of that cosmic song, dissolve the illusions of separateness and reconnect with the Whole of Life that is calling us. Glenn sends us beyond our small conceptions of love that we might truly embrace the world and be healed by our love.
—RABBI SHEFA GOLD, author of Torah Journeys: the Inner Path to the Promised Land
Glenn’s book has Love at its core, yet it encompasses so much more—wisdom, wholeness, and the unspeakable beauty of life itself. It calls to the heart, inviting us to remember the essence of who we truly are. Read it, and you will discover that now is the perfect moment for each of us to embrace the forgotten parts of ourselves and celebrate a future rich in a Love that deeply nourishes the soul.
—SABINA SPENCER, PhD, author of The Heart of Leadership and Cosmic and Wild.
Original Love is a beautiful and extremely important work for assisting us in making the transition to new and better times. The writing flows lovingly …and inspired me to write a series of poems. In the tradition of Gebser’s The Ever Present Origin, Parry unfolds the evolution of consciousness from a primordial state of oneness…to the present time when the world is struggling to move from a…separate from nature thought centered way of seeing to an integral consciousness…Original Love is a major contribution to the literature of developing consciousness beginning with Gebser and Rudolf Steiner, including numerous works on the return of the Divine feminine…and the earlier volumes of Parry’s trilogy, Original Thinking and Original Politics.
—STEPHEN M. SACHS, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Political Science; Senior Teacher in the Inayati Sufi Order.
Glenn Aparicio Parry’s trilogy has been particularly important to me as a dedicated life-long learner. I hold his work as a guide for material to study in-depth on the subjects he covers: thinking, politics and now, love. His views on ways of thinking (and how they came to be) have sparked discovery of my own connections for healing on this Earth journey. This book on the origins of love has had a ‘cosmic’ influence on my own teachings in this area of awareness of planetary energy and how it affects us humans.
—REGINAH WATERSPIRIT, co-author of The Bear Is My Father (with Muscogee Nation-Creek Tribe, multi-tribal spiritual leader Marcellus Bear Heart Williams), is also a Voice Dialogue facilitator, artist storyteller and teacher.
Original Love captured the essence of my own journey. I was told once upon a time by a medicine woman in Wisconsin that we are placed on this earth to teach and learn and serve. That became my motto as a beginning professor in social work in the 1980s. It remained to be the heart of my work as an educator for 33 years!
As I read this manuscript, I found myself revisiting different periods of my life almost as if reading this book was a life review for me on many levels. Most importantly, I found that as we realize original love is eternal…we cannot help but remember and appreciate the amazing path traveled over the years leading to the eternal present.
Finally, this is a bellwether for the turbulent times we are currently witnessing in our country and around the world. It gives me hope. No small feat!
